WIND CHILL The chilling effect of the wind can
be represented by the lower temperature that would be required
to produce the same chilling sensation for a person walking
in calm conditions. This is known as the wind chill equivalent
temperature and is an important indicator in assessing the
comfort of personnel spending periods outdoors. It is not
an indication that an unheated inanimate object will cool
below the ambient air temperature.
Wet bulb temperature
The temperature of the wet thermometer bulb in a wet and dry
bulb hygrometer. The wet bulb is surrounded by wet fibres
and evaporation of water from the fibres cools the wet bulb.
The rate of evaporation depends on the relative humidity of
the air.
Density Altitude
The altitude in the standard atmosphere corresponding to a
specific air density.
Dew Point
The temperature at which dew or condensation begins to form.
Relative Humidity
The ratio, expressed as a percentage, of the actual vapour
pressure to the saturation vapour pressure.

A tripod mountable wind vane that will securely hold the Kestrel 4000 series anemometers. It is now possible to leave your anemometer on location to record and store wind data. The wind vane will automatically keep your anemometer pointing directly at the eye of the wind
The Kestrel 4500 anemometer also includes a digital compass so wind DIRECTION is a data logged parameter.

to a PC. Consists of a cradle for the Kestrel 4000 anemometer,
USB interface cable and software. Requires a PC with USB port
running Windows 98 or higher. Please see above for screen
grabs. The file can be saved as comma delimited text for manipulation
in Excel or similar.
